Day 4 (30 Dec 08): 嘉义 + 奋起湖 + 四季星空民宿
We woke up at about 4am this morning to pack our staff and check out from Howard Plaza Hotel as we were taking the 6.30am Taiwan Speed Rail to嘉义 which is the state that Alishan is at. The speed rail journey took us about 90mins to reach嘉义. Most of us fell asleep on the train cause we woke up so early. Arrived at 嘉义 at about 8am and took a cab up to奋起湖 for some sightseeing. The cab journey took us another 90mins to reach 奋起湖. I fell asleep again on the cab so didn’t really catch the beautiful scenery up the mountains. Heard from the rest that the road were very curvy. It feels like we are filming the movie “Initial D”. It can be pretty dangerous if the cab drivers were not skillful enough. Finally arrived at 奋起湖 at bout 9.30am. Since most of the shops were not opened yet, we went to eat the 奋起湖铁路便当. I even bought back the 便当 metal container. As we were not that hungry, we shared the 便当 but it was delicious. I love便当. Realized that 奋起湖 was not a very big place. It’s like a small town. We walked around and took some pictures. We finished touring the place at about 12pm. We called the 民宿 to arrange for transport to pick us up but they could only come at 2pm. Lucky we managed to find our own transport to go there. Arrived at四季星空民宿 at 1pm and got the staff to heat up lunch bought at 7-11 on our way there. As our rooms were not ready, we had to wait around in the dining room. We also went outside to take some nice pictures of the民宿. The place is exactly like what I saw in the website & brochure. It is so nice, warm & cozy. Outside was pretty cold but we could feel the warmth when we stepped into the place. Finally got our rooms at 3pm and also had our afternoon tea. As we were all very tired, we decided to take a nap till dinner time. Dinner was at 6.30pm and we are having steamboat which was arranged by the 民宿. Both the afternoon tea & dinner were delicious. We were all very impressed with the 民宿. It’s definitely worth the effort & journey to go all the way there. I would love to go back for a longer stay with my partner next time. After dinner, it was free time on our own. We went out to take some pictures at night and then it was back to our room to watch TV and also take our shower. Decided to sleep early cause we wanna watch sunrise the next day.
