Day 1 (27 Dec 08): Taipei City - 忠孝东路 + 臨江街通化夜市
The day has finally come for our trip to Taiwan. Cheryl, JC, YY & I departed via China Airlines whereas Eileen & Kevin flew via Singapore Airlines (no choice lah, Eileen is better paid than us). She is sure gonna kill me when she see this. Hahaha. Anyway we arrived at Howard Plaza Hotel at about 2pm. Proceed to忠孝东路 for our lunch & shopping since it’s near to our hotel. We had lunch at this place call君悦排骨 which was supposed to be Andy Lau’s fav food. The 排骨 is yummy, now I understand why Andy Lau likes it. After lunch, we decided to explore some of the shops behind 忠孝东路 and I realize that area looks a bit like Harajuku in Tokyo. I even found the Stay Real boutique and bought the Hello Kitty collaboration t-shirt designed by 阿信 of MayDay. The t-shirt became one of the most expensive item bought in Taiwan cause it was about S$70. My frens say that it is still cheaper than my Bathing Ape t-shirt. I also managed to get blusher & lip gloss for Abby from Jill Stuart (a brand only available in Japan & Taiwan). I love the packing of the cosmetics from them. Also got myself a pair of shoes which I saw in Taiwan magazine and it was selling at 50% off. Me also bought some cosmetics from other brands not available in Singapore and also face masks (a must buy product from Taipei cause it’s damn cheap & good). By the time we finished with 忠孝东路, my hands were full. We decided to go back to the hotel to drop off our purchase before making our way to臨江街通化夜市 for dinner. We went to my fav shop to eat the 扣肉包 and most of them also say it’s delicious after eating. After dinner, it’s more shopping at the night market. Managed to get some nice accessories in rose gold colour & a pair of white skinny jeans at only S$20. They even altered the length for you on the spot without any extra charges. We finally finished the night market at about 12am, all were pretty tired by the time we got back to the hotel.
