Resolutions for 2008

A new year with a new beginning. Time to set my resolutions for year 2008 and see how well I can keep them.
  1. Find a new boyfriend & get into a new relationship. Hope to be able to manage this relationship better if I ever find one.
  2. Need to control my short temper this year. My family, fren & colleagues have been putting up with my short temper, poor them.
  3. To put in more effort in my work and to be nicer to my boss & colleagues. Need to wake up early & not be late for work in the new year. To move on to a new place if things dun get well in my current job.
  4. Continue to maintain good relationship with all my frens. Hope to be able to spend more time with them to understand them better,
  5. Spend more time with my family.
  6. Try & save more money. Been spending alot on travelling & shopping. Need to start saving after my Tokyo trip in March.
  7. To continue clubbing & ktv singing so that I can improve my dancing & singing skills. But never to get drunk again.
  8. To engage in heathier activities such as bowling, pool, tennis & maybe even swimming if I can find a good coach.

Anyway hope I can achieve most of my resolutions in 2008.

This will be my last blog for 2007 cause I will be partying on the last day of the year.

Wishing everyone Happy New Year and may 2008 be a better year for all.

Reflection of 2007

Year 2007 is coming to an end in about 24hrs time and I thought that I should start to pen down and reflect on what are the things that had happened in this year. Its a memorable year for me cause I turned 30 this year and many things had happened.

If I did not remember wrongly, one of the resolution for 2007 was to be able to settle down with the man I love. I never expect the relationship to end. Love is very amazing, you never know when it is going to end. I have always believe in fate and always leave everything to God to decide. If this is what it is meant to be, then I will gladly accept my fate. This is the path I have chosen and I will never regret.

In this year, I got to know a group of close frens. Thou we have worked together and know one another since last year but it is in this year that we have become close frens. We have been there to help one another during the tough times. I sincerely hope that we can continue to maintain & strengthen this friendship.

Besides getting to know new frens, I have strengthen my friendship with my best friend. I am really thankful to have her there for me when I am down. I must apologise for not being able to spend time with her when I was attached. Guess sometimes you need to balance between relationship & friendship.

It is known to alot of people that I am in my current company because of my boss. She asked me to come over to help her 2 years ago. Though I have worked with her for total of about 5 years but it is in this year that I have managed to truly understand my boss. We have become frens. She has given me alot of personal advice and I am grately to be able to work with her. I have learn alot from her and I sincerely hope for the best for her in the coming year. Will continue to support her.

Besides having a good boss, I did also work hard in my job. One of my achievements this year would be to successfully organise the department offsite team building. Though the attendance is not high but I am glad that those who went enjoyed themselves. I am also very happy to be voted Ms CSD this year. This meant that my colleagues appreciate all the hard work I have put in for the dept. Though the turnover in our dept is high but I am glad to be able to work with such good colleagues. Hope to continue to maintain this good working relationship.

As for family, I still need to try harder to communicate with my parents. Maybe we have never been close since I was young so it is very difficult now. At least I am close to my niece & nephew so it helps sometimes.

As for health, I got pretty sick in Aug and managed to lost a bit of weight. Look slimmer now and can fit better into clothes. Still need to maintain good health in the coming year.

Though 2007 has been a tough year for me but I have grown & learnt alot in this year. I have fell and picked myself up. I have become stronger and will continue to be better next year. Look forward to a better 2008.

爱琴海民歌餐厅

Yesterday, a group of us decided to go to 爱琴海民歌餐厅. I have never been there before so its a good experience. Some of singers can sing really well and my favourite is 明源. He is not only good at singing but can also talk very well. We can dedicate songs for them to sing but they may not sing all the song dedicated. They picked our song yesterday. We had wanted to test their skills by dedicating a very difficult song 一眼瞬间 but they manage to sing it well. 明源 even sang many of my favourite songs such as 牛仔很忙,彩虹 & 蒲公英的約定. It was a truly enjoyable session. I was there with YY, Sai Kit, Cheryl, Selina & Shirley. Think we will go there again.

Welcome to Taipei (21-27 Dec 2007)

Day 1 - 21 Dec 2007 (Fri)
Took the 12.35pm flight and arrived in Taipei at about 4.40pm. Arrived at the hotel (Howard Place Hotel) at 7pm. The sky already turned dark at about 5pm in Taipei cause its winter time. Eileen brought me to 通化街夜市. Ate lots of local delights such as Pork Bun (扣肉包). Their version of the bun is nicer compare to the ones we ate in Singapore. Put on 1kg after the food trip. Hope I can burn off the fats with the shopping and sight seeing.

Day 2 - 22 Dec 2007 (Sat)
Went to 五份埔for shopping today cause alot of my frens who came to Taipei said that the things there are cheap. Eileen has never gone there before so I was the one who brought her there. The clothes & shoes there are pretty cheap if you buy more pieces. The place is quite big so you need at least half a day to shop there. The shops normally open at about 12pm. I bought a top, 2 dresses & a Fred Perry bag. Eileen bought lots of stuff there, she bought 3 pairs of shoes. We left the place at about 5pm cause we wanna go back to dress up to party tonight at Luxy (one of the biggest club in Taipei recommended by Hui Lam). Had dinner at this place call 九如which is located near our hotel and the food is very yummy. I had a豆沙粽子 & 芝麻汤圆 and both taste very good.
We went to Luxy at about 9pm only to find out that they only open at 10pm. We had to shop around at 忠孝东路while waiting for it to open. Manage to finally get into the club at about 10.30pm. The entrance fee is NT800 (with 2 free drinks) cause they had Machi performing that night. There were 2 zones in the club, one is Hip Hop and the other is Trance/Techno. We were at the Hip Hop zone most of the time cause the music is nicer. We saw quite alot of Singaporeans there. The Taipei girls are very hot & sexy when they go clubbing and I think S'pore girls has got alot to learn. The only thing is that we can dance better. I seriously think that Taiwanese cannot dance well. What happen to those hot babes we saw on TV that can do Hip Hop very well??? Machi started performing at only about 1.30am and by then we were tired and decided to leave. I managed to only catch a glance of Machi, so sad. Will still go there again if I ever come back to Taipei. Its a pretty cool club.

Day 3 - 23 Dec 2007 (Sunday)
We had decided to go 九份today since alot of places are packed on Sunday. Didn't managed to wake up early cause we went clubbing the night before. Only left the hotel at about 12.30pm. Manged to catch the 2pm bus to 九份. The bus ride took us about 2hrs cause there were traffic jams along the way. It was raining heavily when we there. We only went up a short portion of the street, found a nice cosy place to have a hot drink and made our way down after buying some local snacks. We left the place at about 6.30pm. Went back to the hotel to change into dry clothes & shoes before going out for dinner & more shopping at 忠孝东路.

Day 4 - 24 Dec 2007 (Monday)
Yeh, its Christmas Eve in Taipei. Eileen finally brought me to 西门丁to shop today. We went there around noon time cause the shops don't open that early. We had 阿宗面线there and its quite tasty. Continue my shopping trip in Taipei. I bought some clothes there. Realize the service in Taipei is really good especially if they know that you are not a local. They will offer a better price for tourist and they allow you to try the clothes (normally they dun allow local to try). Left 西门丁at about 7pm cause we are going partying tonight again to celebrate Christmas Eve. We had dinner at 点水楼 @ Sogo cause it was highly recommended by Irene. The restaurant is more expensive version of 鼎泰奉. The 小笼包is not as nice as 鼎泰奉 but the chicken soup is really good.
We had wanted to go to Ministry of Sound but we couldn't seem to get into the website to check the charges & operating hours. Decided to proceed to this place call Room 18 which was recommended by the hotel concierge. I heard about it before cause alot of Taiwan celebs always had their private parties there. This time I managed to call and check the opening time (10.30pm) & charges (NT700 with 2 drinks). We were there at about 10.45pm and there was already a queue there. We got to know 2 Singaporeans (Raymond & Jamie) who were queueing up in front of us. We decided to spend the night partying together. There ain't much Christmas mood in Taipei, guess maybe they dun celebrate Christmas. Room 18 is also a great place cause the music is just as good and the crowd there is also fun. One thing that I didn't mention earlier is the drinks are good, unlike those free drinks in S'pore which they dun put enough alcohol. I was already a bit high after 2 Whiskey Coke & 1 Lychee Martini. We partied till about 2am. Managed to get Jamie's number so that we can get the photos taken from her. Overall, its a happening Christmas night for me this year even though I miss all my frens in S'pore. Anyway promise to spend the New Year Eve countdown with them so more partying before the year ends.

Day 5 - 25 Dec 2007 (Tues)
Its Christmas day today! Our itinerary today is to visit 淡水&渔人码头 follow by 士林夜市. We didn't manage to wake up early so had to give 北投温泉 a miss. Lunch was at 鼎泰奉 cause we had to try the Taiwan version of it. The food is nicer & cheaper than the S'pore branches. Reach there at about 3pm and we had a coffee break at Dunkin Donuts. Its really nice to sit by the sea and enjoy a hot coffee. Just realize that the branches for Mister Donut is all over Taipei. Heard that there used to be long queues when they first started in Taipei but now there are so many outlets so hardly any queues. I did buy one to try and I must say it really taste good. We then took a ferry to 渔人码头. The ferry ride was pretty exciting cause we were standing outside and we didn't know that the sea would be so rough. Thank goodness we reach 渔人码头 in one piece. Thought I was going to get sea sick. 渔人码头 is a pretty nice place and there is this bridge call 白色情人桥. Maybe it is call that cause there is alot of lovers who goes there for dates. The ferry ride back to 淡水 really made me sea sick. We walk around the shops in 淡水 to buy some local delicacies before making our way to 士林夜市. There is a night market there where you can continue your shopping for more clothes & shoes. I was pretty disappointed with 士林夜市 food market cause I was expecting a street of food stalls but only to realize that it is a food market like our hawker centre. What makes it worse is that the stalls sell almost the same stuff. There are at least 6-8 stalls that sells 蚝仔煎. But I must say that the 蚝仔煎 is very yummy. I actually ate from 2 different stalls and one of them is the one that 小猪 learn how to cook this dish in 转角遇到爱. I also ate 蚝仔面线 and the super big chicken cutlet (bigger than my face lor). The food there are all very delicious but think I will check out other 夜市the next time I visit Taipei.

Day 6 - 26 Dec 2007 (Wed)
Today is our last day in Taipei before we depart for S'pore tomolo. Eileen decided to bring me to Taipei 101. Taipei 101 is one of the tallest building in Asia (I think lah, not very sure also). The place is basically a branded shopping mall. I actually shop in the mall for 2hrs without buying anything. I didn't go up to the building cause think the entrance fee is a bit expensive lah, me super broke already. We then proceed to NewYork New York & Mitsukoshi for more shopping. I end up buying a pair of shoes at Mitsukoshi. Also bought more local snacks cause going back to S'pore soon. Met up with Eileen's aunties & cousins for dinner. They brought us to this Japanese restaurant near our hotel and the food is also very yummy. After dinner, we decided to go for a ride at one of the latest attraction in Taipei : 猫空缆车. Its a cable car ride that brings you up the the mountain where there were alot of teahouses. We were simply there to enjoy the cable car ride so didn't go to the teahouses. The ride is very worth cause it cost us about S$5 for both ways and the journey up & down is about 30mins each. Its a pretty good experience and you can see Taipei city night scenery from the top too.

Day 7 - 27 Dec 2007 (Thurs)
Today is our last day in Taipei. We cannot really go far cause we need to leave the hotel by 1.30pm to make way to the airport. Decided to shop around our hotel vicinity. We walked down to 忠孝东路 to get some bread for my mom. Managed to also locate the Bape Store in Taipei and I took some pictures outside the shop. Didn't buy anything there since I be going to Tokyo in March. Did some last minute shopping and proceed back to hotel with lunch from 永和豆浆. Dun know why but the food from 永和豆浆 is also nicer than the one in S'pore. Finished our lunch in the hotel room and then proceed to check out at about 1.30pm to wait for the airport transfer bus. Reached the airport at about 3pm. Had to wait for the counter to open at 3.30pm before we could check in to our flight. I actually checked in 36kg of luggage. Lucky the airline did not charge me for excess baggage. Besides buying lots of local snacks, I also had to help Hui Lam buy instant beef noodles (6 x 3 = 18packets) and guess those weigh about 2-3kg. Must figure out how to carry all the stuff back home later cause my house is not on the lift landing. Our flight is at 6pm so we had to shop around in the airport. Found a shop that sells Hello Kitty stuff there. Finally board the plane for our flight back to S'pore. Touch down at about 10.05pm and this ends our 7D6N trip in Taipei. Many thanks to Eileen for inviting me to join her for this trip. I finally understand why so many S'poreans prefer to visit Taiwan rather than Hong Kong. The food is nicer, the people are friendlier, the shopping is not too bad though things are expensive and the clubbing are just as good as S'pore. Thinking of visiting Taipei again in 2008, maybe can go there for New Year Eve countdown. Looking forward to my next visit to Taiwan.......

BBQ Gathering 15 Dec 2007

Yesterday, we had a BBQ gathering for a group of close colleagues & frens at Hui Lam's place. Most of us were there except Chee Ming who needs to take care of his baby, Selina who is busy and Mycle + Sharol cause Mycle was sick. The BBQ food marinate by Lay Bee was very delicious, the fried bee hoon by Kai Ee's mom was yummy, the otah from Irene were very spicy and the fruits from Siew Kean were sweet. It was a very good session cause we managed to really sit down and catch with one another. There aren't much opportunity for such a big group of frens to sit down and chat, especially when many of us are no longer with the dept. We ended the session at about 1.30am. Though many of us are tired but you could see that we enjoyed the gathering.

A BIG Thank you to the following people for the BBQ:
  • Hui Lam - for providng his place for the BBQ
  • Hui Lam's mom - for helping to buy the BBQ food
  • Hui Lam's brother & frens - for helping to bbq the food
  • Lay Bee - for marinating the food till 12am and helping to bbq the food
  • Sai Kit - for helping to buy drinks & ice although we nearly died of dehydration while waiting for him to come.
  • Kai Ee's mom - for the yummy fried bee hoon
  • Siew Kean - for the tasty cutted fruits
  • Irene - for the spicy otah although I didn't eat any
  • Cheryl - for the Vodka & chocolates
  • Last but the least for everyone who made the effort to turn up even though it was raining.

Hope we can organise another session in the coming year.

DF Session 14 Dec 07

Its time of the month again for our monthly DF session. We never intended to have any for Dec but because the CYO team is moving to Tampines, we decided to have it as a farewell session for Kai Ee & Hui Lam. As usual, we had many drinks and sang alot of songs. I promised Kai Ee that I will make it a happy session for them. I told myself that no matter what happens, I will not cry at this session. For the whole night, even thought I was upset, I never show it. I put on my best smile. It was not until Eileen started to cry. I try to console but she cannot seem to understand what I try to say to her cause she is too upset. I started to get upset too. Reason being that I will miss the CYO team and another is my personal problems. Not wanting to cry in front of my frens, I decided to go outside and cry. I must really apologise to my frens for spoiling the mood. Once again, thank you for your understanding and support. It is my blessing to be able to know you guys and we have come a long way. Let's continue to work together to maintain this precious friendship of ours.

Farewell to CYO team

Today is the last day for some of my colleagues & frens who are transferred to another department and be moving to our Tampines office. I would like to dedicate this blog to wish them success in their life and all the best in future endeavours. Though I am only close to only 2 out of 6 colleagues but I will still miss them cause we have worked together for the past 2 years. I will feel sad when I walked past their seats on Monday and they are no longer there for me to talk to. I sincerely hope that they will continue to do well in the new department. I do hope that we can continue to keep in touch but sometimes its difficult to maintain a long distance relationship. Well, guess its the effort you put in to maintain this friendship. Anyway, just remember that I will always be there when you need help. Take care......

Broken Heart

This week is really not my lucky week. I had been trying hard to mend a broken heart for the past 3 months and the wound is slowing healing with my friends’ support and encouragement. Today, I heard a piece of news that opened up the wound again. It feels like adding salt to my wound which is already healing and now it’s bleeding & hurting again. I guess my friend didn’t know that it will hurt me that much by telling me the news. I really don’t know how to describe my feelings. I really hope that he can spare some thoughts for my feelings. Maybe he had no choice. Anyway even if it really happens, I will try my best to manage my emotions and not get him into any trouble. After all I am the one who has done wrong. I thought we could still be good friends but now I really don’t know how to. Anyway my friends always say that I think too much. I shall try to change this habit of mine. Recently the weather is very good for sleeping. I shall sleep early tonight and hope things will get better tomorrow when I wake up.

Vincent

I heard this old song "Vincent" in a cantonese drama I was watching and quite like it.

Starry starry night
paint your palette blue and grey
look out on a summer's day
with eyes that know the darkness in my soul.
Shadows on the hills
sketch the trees and the daffodils
catch the breeze and the winter chills
in colors on the snowy linen land.
And now I understand
what you tried to say to me
and how you suffered for your sanity
and how you tried to set them free.
They would not listen they did not know how perhaps they'll listen now.
Starry starry night
flaming flowers that brightly blaze
swirling clouds in violet haze
reflect in Vincent's eyes of China blue.
Colors changing hue
morning fields of amber grain
weathered faces lined in pain
are smoothed beneath the artist's loving hand.
And now I understand
what you tried to say to me
and how you suffered for your sanity
and how you tried to set them free.
They would not listen they did not know how perhaps they'll listen now.
For they could not love you
but still your love was true
and when no hope was left in sight on that starry starry night.
You took your life as lovers often do,
But I could have told you Vincent
this world was never meant for one as beautiful as you.
Starry starry night
portraits hung in empty halls
frameless heads on nameless walls
with eyes that watch the world and can't forget.
Like the stranger that you've met
the ragged men in ragged clothes
the silver thorn of bloddy rose lie crushed and broken on the virgin snow.
And now I think I know
what you tried to say to me
and how you suffered for your sanity
and how you tried to set them free.
They would not listen they're not listening still perhaps they never will.

Incident at Work

Today, I was upset with an incident at work. I was trying to talk to a colleague who was also a good fren on some work issues and he was not very friendly to me. This got me really upset because I was just trying to help but maybe he thinks that I am jus being greedy. I shall not relate the incident. Guess the person should know who he is lah. I am a bit disappointed with this fren cause I felt that I deserve a better treatment. Maybe I happen to talk to him at a wrong timing. Guess I have say I am jus unlucky today. Lucky for me is that I have got frens whom I can talk to and also help to cheer me up. I shall not let this incident spoil my day.

I also received an early Christmas present from one of my fren. He actually gave me a Vivienne Westwood handkerchief and this brand is not available in S'pore. I am a fan of Vivienne Westwood and am very very happy to receive this gift. Thank you so much for this early Christmas gift and it really cheers me up today. I am definitely feeling better.

Zouk Out 2007

On 8 Dec 2007, I went to my 1st Zouk Out event at Siloso Beach, Sentosa. This is the 7th year that they are having the Zouk Out. I managed to get free tickets from my DBS Live Fresh Credit Card application and we are also entitled to free drinks from 8-10pm at the DBS tent. I went with Cheryl and we met at VivoCity for dinner first at bout 5.30pm. We initially wanted to go to Sentosa to get a tan but I couldn't wake up cause went home late from D&D the night earlier. We saw my ex-boyfriend at VivoCity when we were having our dinner. Cheryl even said he is quite good looking. Anyway we proceed to Sentosa at bout 6.30pm. Reach there at bout 7pm. We walk around before deciding to join the queue at 7.30pm. They only opened up for entry to the event at 8.15pm. We only managed to get in at 8.30pm. Missed out 30mins for the free drinks, so sad. We made our way to the DBS tent the moment we went in and started our round of free drinks. Had a total of 6 drinks each, 2 whiskey coke & 4 vodka orange. I was a bit high but Cheryl weren't high at all. We sat around at the tent to talk and enjoy the music. Decided to leave to dance after our frens came to take over the seats. We went to dance at a few zones but enjoyed the most at the Mambo Jambo zone. Well, we managed to attract some guys as well as girls who invited us to dance with them. They even complimented that we dance well. We left the event at about 2.30am cause we were both tired and sleepy. I must say that I enjoyed the event and do not mind going again next year.

Dinner & Dance 2007

On 7 Dec 07, we had our annual Dinner & Dance 2007. This is my 3rd D&D with the company. This year’s D&D is at Ritz Carlton hotel and my fren Eileen has booked a room at Marina Mandarin for a post party. We went straight to Marina Mandarin after work to rest and also change into our costumes. The theme this year is Phantasm and our dept is to dress under the theme Shrek. We decided to dress for 3 major characters: Witch, Pinocchio & Princess. I dressed up as Pinocchio and we also made most of our costumes. Our costumes were pretty creative but too bad we weren’t selected for best costume table. The food at Ritz were not as nice as Orchard Hotel. The programmes for the evening were also very boring. There were also less top prizes and sad to say that no one from CSD won any prizes. I didn’t really enjoy the D&D this year. Maybe its because alot of my frens are no longer with the dept. I had the most fun last year and I really miss my frens.

After the D&D, we proceed to Marina Mandarin for our post party. Not many people went to the post party. Initially Mycle told us that he & Sharol would go but decided that not to go when he was at the D&D. YY also cannot make it cause he needs to go back to office the next day. In the end, only me, Eileen, Cheryl, Kai Ee, Beng & Shirley were there. Kai Ee was already high at the D&D so he didn’t drink much at Marina and he also fell asleep after a while. I also fell asleep cause I haven been sleeping much lately. Me & Cheryl decided to make our way home at bout 2.30am cause we are going to Zouk Out the next day.

Speedy Recovery

I have been wanting to write this post for the past few days but was too busy to do so.

Anyway I have got a fren also my "brother" who has been pretty sick recently. Heard that he was down with some virus. Jus wanna dedicate this post to wish him a speedy recovery.

Bro, do take care, have lots of rest and get well soon. We look forward to having our ever energetic and healthy brother back to the office. (^o^)

永远爱着您 by 草蜢

This is currently my favourite song. It is a cantonese song by HK pop group 草蜢. Go check it out if you have the time. Hope you like it too.

Fortunate

How do you consider your life to be fortunate? Guess it depends on what you want in life.

This year hasn't really been a good year for me. First, I broke up with my boyfriend of 3.5years. Then, I fell in love with a wrong guy. Not because he is a bad guy but we are not fated to be together. I asked myself why am I so unfortunate? I sometimes hated life cause of the problems I faced in work, family & personal life. Lucky thing is that I am a very optimistic person and I always look on the bright side of things.

Today, I realized that I am actually quite fortunate. One thing I know is that I never have to starve in my 30 years of life. Though my dad was not very rich when I was young, I always get enough to eat. Even though I had to start working at the age of 17 cause I knew my dad might not be able to support me to study but I have never blamed anyone. I always think that it is better to be able to earn and spend your own money. In my 13 years of working, I have learnt alot about life. I am also very lucky to have met many good bosses in these 13 years and they have also taught me alot of things.

Though I faced alot of problems this year but compared to some of my frens, I really think that I am blessed with lots of good fortune. I hope that I can share my good fortune with my frens so that they can also live a better life. There is nothing in the world that you cannot resolve. It is how determine you are to resolve it. So frens out there with problems, always look on the bright side of things and remember that you have got frens who are there to support you. Treasure each day you live cause you never know what is gonna happen tomorrow.

Alcohol

Jus realized that its been a while since I last wrote a post. Guess I have been too busy clearing work and preparing for my Hong Kong trip last week.

Before my trip last week, we had our Nov DF session on 23 Nov and we also took this chance to celebrate Mycle's birthday on 24 Nov. As usual, we drank, sang & danced alot. It was supposed to be a monthly gathering for this group of frens and also a happy occasion since we were celebrating Mycle's birthday. We went a bit crazy this round cause we were really dancing in the ktv room. Everyone was sooo high. Even YY danced and trust me, he can dance pretty well leh.

I guess alcohol always makes a person very emotional and also more daring. Alot of things that you wouldn't do or say when you are sober would start pouring out when you get drunk. This has happened to me as well as to many of my frens in DF. Some of them were pretty shock initially when they see others getting emotional but after a while, they sort of got used to it. Some cannot even remember what they said or did when they were high. This is so interesting.

Someone told me today that maybe we shouldn't drink alcohol when we go DF. I personally think that there is nothing wrong for a person to vent his/her frustrations when they get high so long it doesn't hurt another person in the process. We are so stressed with work and also have our own personal problems. Drinking can be a way to distress. I suppose everything will be fine so long we keep whatever we see or hear within the DF Club. Frens are there to share your problems.

So DF members, its ok to get high or drunk once in a while if you need to, dun keep everything to yourself, let go when its time to let go. Always remember that we are all adults and we should be responsible to the things we do. Always live with a clear conscince and no regrets.
