The Beginning of a new Journey

My new job is with the Regional Biz Development dept in another Insurance company but I am no longer a secretary. I started work in my new office on 11th Sept 08, the day right after my last day with AIA. I decided to start earlier cause wanted to give myself more time to get to know the environment & new colleagues. Well, my boss was overseas when I went over so I had 2 days to get to know the new systems & find out more about the Company. I was given a laptop so that I can bring it when I travel to overseas office or for presentations outside the office. I was pretty impressed with the efficiency of their IT Dept cause all my access & password was ready on my 1st day of work. Back in my old company, this would probably take weeks. By noon, I was able to access my email & also Internet. I was also given remote access to my email. They even have instant messaging system that you can chat with colleagues in the company rather than sending emails. The only problem is they are using Lotus Notes for email & I've using Microsoft Outlook so need time to get use to it. My desk was also much bigger. I also felt that the cultural here is slightly better cause people are friendlier and more willing to help. I met my big boss Fabian on my 1st day of work. He actually pop by to say hi and also check if I was getting used to things there. When my colleague found out that I didn't take a break & also worked till 12am on my last day, she actually called Fabian to ask for half day off on the next day so that I can rest. That was really a sweet gesture of her. I was really touched. I didn't really want to take the half day off as I jus started work but I needed the rest so only went to office after lunch on my 2nd day. Nothing much was done on my first 2 days but at least I've got time to know more bout the company. I have a feeling that I'm gonna love this job. It may not be an easy job but it's something that is gonna be really challenging. Hope I won't disappoint those who highly recommended me. This is gonna be a big change in my 14 years of working life. Wish me all the best!!!
