Lasik on 24 Nov 2008

I have finally decided to go for lasik to correct my short-sightedness & astigmatism. I went for an evaluation on 20 Nov and made an appointment to do the operation on 24 Nov. Total damage to my account for the ops was about $2,700.00. It burnt a big hole in my savings but now I feel that every cent is worth it. I was a bit nervous when waiting for the ops yesterday. Had to call my best fren Abby to come accompany me home. When I stepped into the operating theatre, I was not given any chance to be nervous. They immediately put me on the bed, numbed my cornea and started with the ops. I had opted for Intralase to open the flap for my cornea so they used laser to cut open the flap. I didn't feel any pain during the ops but I could feel something when they opened the flap. I was pretty calm by the time they did my left eye. The whole process took about 15mins. I was supposed to feel slight burning sensation & tearing after 30mins but I didn't feel anything until I reached home which was more than an hour later. Abby & her husband Philip were very nice to come picked me up and sent me home. I realized that I could go home after my ops but they still came. Anyway, they told me I looked like Ultraman with the plastic protective covers on my eyes. Upon reaching home, I immediately took a bath and went to bed cause the tearing was unbearable. I was given a sleeping pill so it wasn't tough to get to sleep. When I woke up this morning, I could see quite clearly. Went in for a check up in the morning before going to work in the afternoon. My eyes are taking the ops quite well cause I do not have major problems except for some red patches on my eyeball which will go away. Now its alot of aftercare procedures to follow to ensure a speedy & full recovery. I am happy to be able to see the world clearly again without using any glasses or contact lenses after 21 years.
