Recently, I went to Bangkok with my frens Sai Kit & Jasmine. Haven visited the place for about 5 years so been looking forward to the trip. Below is my itinerary:
Day 1 (12 Jan 2008) - Chinatown
We took the 5.30pm flight via Jetstar and reached Bangkok at about 7pm (Bangkok time). Reached Baiyoke Sky Hotel at about 9pm. Our room was upgraded to a suite. We were so happy. We proceed to Chinatown to have our dinner @ Nan Xing restaurant. We had crabmeat fried rice, sotong, fish & sharks fin. The meal cost THB2000. We shopped around the area to get some local snacks and then went back to the hotel to catch our beauty sleep.
Day 2 (13 Jan 2008) - Chatuchak Weekend Market & Suan Lam Night Market
This is the 1st time that I go to Chatuchak Weekend market and they really have alot of stalls. Don't think you can finish shopping there in 1 day. We were there from 12pm to 6pm and I didn't even finish the clothes section. Its really hot & stuffy there. I got giddy shopping there. The things there are not all nice so you have to spent lots of time looking for good stuff. I did manage to get some t-shirts & dresses there. Left the market at about 6pm as we were really tired. Went back to the hotel to put our stuff before continuing our shopping in Suan Lam Night market. The stuff at Suan Lam is similar to Chatuchak but you can also find some local designers which carry nicer designs. We had dinner there and ended our day at about 11.30pm. I am so tired from all the shopping.
Day 3 (14 Jan 2008) - Platinum Mall & Central World Plaza
Today Sai Kit needed to go check out some car accessories so Jasmine & I decided to stay in the hotel. Jasmine went for Thai massage & I went for manicure & pedicure at the hotel spa salon. Met up with Sai Kit at Platinum Mall for lunch before continuing our shopping at Platinum Mall. Platinum Mall is actually a wholesale centre so you get better prices if you buy more quantity. Didn't really buy much stuff there. After Platinum Mall, we went over to Isetan @ Central World Plaza cause me & Jasmine needed to stock up our undergarments. Spent more than an hour there. Then we went to Naraya to get some stuff. Spent another hour there. By the time we finished, it was already quite late so we decided to have dinner at Pizza & Company before going back to the hotel to put our stuff. Decided to check out Khao San Road (aka backpackers paradise). Both side of the road is filled with backpackers' inn and pubs with lots of ang mo hanging around there. Nothing fantastic but its nice to go check it out.
Day 4 (15 Jan 2008) - Health Land Spa, MBK & Siam Square
We went for a 2hr thai massage in the morning at Health Land Spa (recommended by Alicia). The massage was ok lah but my shoulder hurts after the massage. Went back to the hotel to check out first before going to MBK & Siam Square to do some last minute shopping. Rushed back to the hotel at about 4pm to get our stuff and catch a cab to the airport. The new Bangkok airport is quite big and they've got lots of shops. I managed to buy this limited edition Longchamp bag which I have been wanting to buy but Singapore is out of stock. The price is also cheaper than Singapore. Eating in the Bangkok airport is really expensive. Sai Kit & Jasmine had Burger King and it cost them about $25 for the meal.
I think I am not suitable to go Bangkok. I have not been feeling well the few days I was there. The taxi rides got me car sick and I have no appetite to eat. The weather is so hot and stuffy. The streets are so dusty due to the number of cars on the road and the traffic is always so jamed. The things are really cheap there so shopping is good. I also enjoyed the tuk tuk rides cause its faster and I don't get car sick. Food is good too but I didn't eat much cause I was feeling sick. Maybe next time I shouldn't spend so much time shopping there. Should go there just to relax.
Live each day, as if there is no tomorrow. Be Happy. Give Thanks. Yesterday is history, Tomorrow is mystery, Today is a GIFT.
