As usual, I needed a short break every 3mths. Last overseas trip was to HK to watch MayDay concert. Since it was the Malaysia Megasale in July & Aug, decided to plan a short trip there with some friends. It took us a while to confirm the trip as we could not fix the date & mode of transportation. Finally confirmed the trip and decided to take Tiger Airways since there was a promotion. There were 4 of us going for the trip: Myself, YY, Eric & Catherine. Since some of us had a tight budget, we decided to all bunk in to a triple room. 17 July 2009 (Friday)
We took the 315pm flight from Budget Terminal to KL LCCT. Arrived in KL at bout 430pm and it took us a while to clear the customs, grab a cab & arrived at our hotel. We stayed at Hotel Capitol which is conveniently located in Bukit Bintang. Arrived at the hotel at about 630pm. After checking in and freshening ourselves up, we proceed to Chinatown for our shopping & dinner. Chinatown basically sells alot of non-authetic stuff. You can actually grab a couple of nice t-shirts at pretty cheap prices. We had our dinner at this famous wanton noodle shop. It's not too bad lah. My favourite is the Longan aka Mata Kuching drink. We all love the drink. We left Chinatown at about 9pm to go back to the hotel to put our stuff and also get ready for our next session which was KTV @ Red Box Low Yat. Our session was from 10pm to 1am. It also came with free supper which started at 1230am. Think I ate quite alot on our 1st day in KL. Went back to the hotel to rest for our full day event on the next day.
18 July 2009 (Saturday)
We started the day with breakfast @ A&W in KLCC. Also spent some time shopping there. It was a big shopping mall with mostly branded stuff which is almost the same as Pavilion. Don't bother wasting time to go there unless you want to visit the Petronas Twin Tower. After KLCC, we went back to Bukit Bintang area to have lunch at famous 明记叉烧. Most of us were happy with our lunch cause the charsiew was delicious. After lunch, it was more shopping at Pavilion, Berjaya Times Square & Sungei Wang. I was a bit disappointed as I was expecting myself to buy lots of stuff but seems like the sale wasn't that fantastic. I was too tired to shop by the time we were at Sungei Wang. Ended up going back to the hotel early. In the evening, we went over to Jalan Alor for our dinner. We ordered quite alot of stuff such as the traditional black sauce hokkien mee, oyster pancake, grilled fish, luk luk & my fav Wong Ah Hua chicken wings. As I had craving for durian, the rest had to accompany me to eat durian after dinner. I had a D24 durian for M$23 and it was a good buy. Ate almost the whole durian all by myself. I was sooo full by the time we finished. We went back to the hotel to washed up cause Eric, YY & myself be going to Zouk. We arrived at Zouk at about 11pm. The queue was pretty long but we managed to get in quite fast. The concept in Zouk KL is almost the same as S'pore. They also have Velvet Underground, Phuture & Zouk. We ended up in Phuture cause that's where most people are and it's my fav Hip Hop zone. I must say that I was impressed with the cheongsters in KL. Most of them came dressed ready to party. The gals were mostly wearing dresses & heels and guys mostly in shirts. They were all well groomed. I also find more good looking guys there compare to S'pore. Maybe because of their dress sense that made them better looking. S'pore guys mostly wear tshirts to clubbing. My 2 guy friends Eric & Javier were happy too cause there were alot of chiobus and their eyes were busy the whole night. We left Zouk at 1am as I was really tired.
19 July 2009 (Sunday)
We decided to spend our last few hours in KL at Chinatown again. Seems like there are more stuff to buy there. Food is also nicer. We had chee cheong fun + dim sum. I also bought some snacks along the way. We also went back for our 2nd round of longan drink. Went back to the hotel at about 12pm to pack & wait for taxi to pick us up to go to airport. Arrived at the airport at 230pm and went to have our lunch at Marrybrown before checking in. Took the 440pm flight back to S'pore. I was so tired that I slept throughout the flight journey although it was just 45mins. Lucky Abby & Philip gave me a lift home cause they were fetching Catherine. Thank you so much for the ride home.
Overall, it was a good break. I quite enjoyed the company. Though the shopping sucks but the food was fantastic. I still miss the longan drink & charsiew rice.
