I don't quite understand the mentality of some people. I've come across situations when you dated someone few weeks in advance and instead of telling you if they are available or not, they will either not give you an answer or give you some lame answer such as "Let me think about it", "I'll tell you later" or "Not sure". But the answer is so simple. It's either a Yes or No. If you are available that day, then you tell people you can make it. If you are not available or don't feel like going out with them, then reject the invitation. There are no such things as thinking about it. If you need to think about it, it means you are simply treating this date as a backup. To elaborate, it means that you will only attend the event if you do not have any other events on that day. What makes you think that your friends should be treated as 2nd class friends. If you really cannot confirm due to some reasons, then explain yourself, don't keep people guessing. Unfortunately, I've got a few of such friends. They like to wait till last minute then they inform you of their decision. In some cases, their decision can even change a few times before the event. If someone dates me and I do not have anything on, I would usually agree to it. Unless the person who is dating me is someone whom I do not like to go out with. Even for such cases, I would decline the invitation with an excuse. Maybe these people have never organise an event in their life and they do not understand how difficult it is for people when you cannot give a definite answer. Anyway, I hope those who read my blog are not such people.

Yes, I also have friends that will wait until the last minute to confirm plans with you. Usually if you have that kind of relationship, it doesn't matter if they come or not, as your relationship is not as great or significant as you thought. I am embarreassed to say that I have done this myself, although it has been a long time since I have. Than you have the opposite, where you have friends that like to make plans for something simple, like going out for dinner, 3 or 4 weeks in advance. I don't like to plan that far in advance.
