DF Gathering (28 August 2009)

Well, it was time for a DF Gathering upon request by Hui Lam & Beng. I decided to start the session earlier at 9pm since those working in AIA had to go for a Charity Walk the next morning. As the organiser, I was there at 9pm sharp to check in to the room. I was glad that they were able to give us the Lucille Room upon my request. The room had left me alot of fond memories and that's where we took our very first DF group picture. 25 months down the road and we were back in the same room for a gathering. As you can see from the pictures, some of us have changed. I think it's not just the outlook but maybe also in terms of our mentality. Somehow the gathering seemed quite "boring". There weren't much excitement & fun. Everyone was just sitting talking among their own group, singing songs or listening to others sing songs. Anyway, I did try my best to catch up with some friends but I could feel the broken links and the lost connections between some people. Well, I could think of a few reasons for the "odd behaviours":
- They are tired after work and had to wake up early the next day for the walk
- They no longer treasure the friendship or enjoy the company of these friends
- They have become more matured so no more childish behaviours like getting drunk or crying
Beng couldn't make it cause he was sick and Hui Lam only came at about 12am. Some left early due to the walk. Maybe I organised it on a wrong date. Did I have a great time? Let's just say I didn't have a bad time. The only thing that I felt bad was my singing weren't good that night. Oh, another unbelievable thing is that we only drank 1.5 bottle of vodka with an attendance of 13 pax. It was never in the history of DF sessions that we drank so little. Since they no longer enjoy alcohol, maybe we should have kopi drinking sessions the next time (if there is any).
Anyway, I still want to thank everyone for taking time and making the effort to be there.
