Bangkok Trip (27-30 January 2010)

It's been 2 years since I last visited Bangkok. Didn't have a very good impression of the place then but I was willing to give it one more chance. Here is a brief intro of our itinerary:
Day 1 - 27 Jan 2010
Departed from Singapore via Jetstar at about 1130am and arrived in Bangkok at 1230pm (BKK time). Took a cab to the hotel which we were staying which is call P2 Boutique Hotel. We were all pretty hungry by the time we arrived at the hotel. Took a short rest and proceed to have our lunch at Central World. Found a small food court within the mall that sells cheap & good food. After lunch, we took the BTS to Nana station where the tailor is located. The guys are going there to tailor shirts & pants for work. Spent almost 2hrs there as the guys were choosing the material & designs. Took a short walk around that area after the tailor. Found Man U restaurant & Bed Supper Club nearby and took some fotos. After that, we went back to Siam area to pray to Four Face Buddha before going to Chinatown to have our dinner. Went to the restaurant that Chee Ming recommended. The sharksfin, pork leg & duck were really yummy but the crabmeat fried rice was not fantastic. After dinner, we walked around Chinatown to buy some local snacks before making our way to Khao San for more excitement. Khao San is a place where there is alot of backpackers motel, pubs and also a night market. There are alot of angmos & japanese hanging around there. You can shop as well as get some nice snacks there. Our fav is the roti prata with banana & chocolate sauce. Finished Khao San at about 11pm and made our way back to hotel to rest.
Day 2 - 28 Jan 2010
Our assemble time was 9.30am as we intend to do some sightseeing in the morning. Took the BTS to Saphan station follow by a ferry ride down the river. We wanted to visit the Wat Arun but missed the ferry stop. Ended up taking the ferry to a further stop and then depart to take another ferry back. We sort of got a bit lost but found our way back. Wat Arun was a really beautiful. Looking at the precious stones they used to build the temple, it was really spectacular and the architecture glows under the sun. We had a great time taking lots of fotos there. After Wat Arun, we took a cab back to the tailor for the guys to do their fitting for the clothes they made. Unfortunately, the clothes were not ready when we arrived. We decided to make our way back to Siam area for lunch & shopping and come back in the evening for the fitting again. We went to Siam Paragon for lunch at a Japanese restaurant call Fuji. The food is really good & cheap. I had a Japanese set with sushi & sashimi for less than S$15. Damn cheap lor. After lunch was our shopping time. We started from Siam Paragon to Siam Centre to Siam Square to MBK. I realized that I left majority of my cash in the hotel and YY had to accompany me back to hotel to get them. Lucky we took a tuktuk and the traffic jam was not that bad. We decided to skip Siam Square and went straight to MBK after going back to the hotel. We wanted to get watches from MBK and it may take us a long time to pick them. As expected, we took more than an hour to pick the watches. After the watches, we went straight to get our iPhone accessories and didn't spend much time shopping at MBK. Met up with Kit & Eric at around 630pm to make our way to have dinner. We went to this place call Coffee Beans for authetic Thai food. The food is nice but price is not cheap. Our meal cost almost S$60 that night. The best food there are the cakes. After dinner, we proceed to Suan Lam Night Market nearby for more shopping. I managed to buy 2 pairs of nice shoes there. It's a great place to shop as there are lots of local designers there. Ended the day at almost 12am. Tired by the time we got back to the hotel.
Day 3 - 29 Jan 2010
Day 3 was a long day for us in Bangkok. Our original intention was to go Chinatown in the morning but decided not to go since we didn't have enough time to shop in Siam area. We had a quick breakfast at a coffee shop near our hotel. After breakfast, Kit set off to see car accessories and YY, Eric & me set off for MBK for more shopping. We went back to see iPhone accessories. After that, we went to Siam Square, Siam Paragon and Central World. Met up with Kit at around 2pm to have lunch at Pizza Company in Central World. After lunch, we went to Platinum Mall to shop for more stuff. Finished Platinum Mall at bout 6pm to go back to the hotel to put our things and also to freshen up for the night activities. We went to the tailor first to get the guys' shirts & pants. Thereafter, we proceed for our Thai massage at 8pm at HealthLand Spa. It's really good to get a good massage after 3 days of shopping & sightseeing. After the massage, we grabbed a quick dinner and continue with our next activity which is drinking at one of Bangkok tallest sky bar at Banyan Tree Bangkok Hotel. We arrived there at 11pm and still managed to get seats though there was quite a crowd which mostly are foreigners. The price is reasonable for a 5-star hotel. The view from the sky bar was beautiful and we took quite alot of fotos. Ended the session at 1am and made our way back to hotel. I was really tired but had to stay up to pack my stuff as we were checking out the next morning. Slept at almost 3am that night.
Day 4 - 30 Jan 2010
We decided to start the day later since we slept so late last night. Checked out and set off from the hotel for Chatuchak Weekend Market at 11am. Had our lunch when we arrived there before setting off to do our shopping. Chatuchak is a famous and big market where you can find alot of things there. From kitchenware furniture, clothes, shoes, bags to even pets. I could never figure my way around there. I dun think anyone can finish the whole place within 1 day. But the place is also very warm cause it is an outdoor market. The shops were all small & cramp and you can get a bit giddy shopping there. Our stamina didn't last long there. We left the place at about 4pm. YY & I went back to the hotel to pack our stuff while Kit & Eric went to Central World for more shopping. We assemble back at the hotel at 6pm to leave for the airport. This is the end of our 4D3N trip in Bangkok.
I quite enjoyed this Bangkok trip though there were some hiccups here & there. We had good sightseeing, shopping & food. I am starting to like Bangkok and would love to go back there again soon.
